CISSP® Exam Preparation Elearning Project

What is the CISSP®?

The CISSP® (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) is a certification developed by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., (ISC)²®. This certification is seen as the gold standard certification for information security professionals.

Security Professionals who wish to prepare for the CISSP® exam often attend a 5-day, classroom-based "Exam Preparation" training course. Many organisations recognise the critical importance of the certification, but frequently have difficulty in finding a 5-day block for their security professionals or consultants to be away on a course. As a result, the demand for an eLearning version is very high.

In response to this demand, 4G is partnering with CyberCrocodile, one of the leading Security Education Services firms in the United States, to create the CISSP® Exam Preparation eLearning Suite. It will include the content of the 5-day course, as well as a section on test-taking techniques.

Other CISSP® eLearning offerings currently available in the marketplace typically use a slide presentation with an audio narration in the background. There is often no interaction with the lessons, other than advancing to the next slide.

The eLearning produced by 4G and CyberCrocodile will include the following features:

  • The ability to navigate easily from topic to topic (critical for recalling previous content during the exam preparation process)
  • Interactive links to the Glossary of Terms from within the material
  • Adobe® Flash® animations of technical concepts (to make the material come to life)
  • An animated 3D Avatar (our virtual instructor) to guide the user through the material
  • A section on testing techniques, as well as example questions similar to those found on the Exam

What truly sets our material apart from other offerings is the use of Conceptual Linking, a non-linear learning methodology created by John Hackmeyer, founder of CyberCrocodile. Conceptual Linking is designed to help students rapidly assimilate and recall seemingly-disparate concepts across a very large volume of material.

We believe our overall approach will ensure that the student is fully-engaged and involved in the learning process, and will dramatically increase the chances of passing the CISSP® Exam on the first attempt.
